Lisa Ciminelli, Licensed Clinical Social Work Supervisor (LCSW-S), received her B.S. in
Education at the University of North Texas, and obtained her MSSW from the University
of Texas at Arlington. She has been a Social Worker since 1997. Her experience is both
clinical and administrative. Lisa has worked primarily with women, men and families
struggling with mental health and substance abuse challenges.
She started her career in social services during the AIDS crisis in 1990. There she
learned about how to understand the depth of the grief overwhelming a group of people
living and dying during the epidemic.
Lisa has had the opportunity to work with women and men who are often marginalized
because of the color of their skin, or the person who they love, which is often a shadow
over their lives every day. She is passionate about making sure that mental health
services are available for all and not just those who can afford it.
Lisa believes that trauma experienced, starting in childhood, affects so many current
issues in our society. She has found that many in our society genuinely believe that
addiction, mental illness, criminality, violence, and homelessness are blamed entirely on
that individual. She believes that we should be focusing on the person to solve the
problem.
Lisa is a native of Buffalo, New York and a current resident of Arlington, Texas. She is
happily married with four children: three cats, one dog and a myriad of couch surfing
fosters.
