Scott Hurbough

Biography

Scott Hurbough is a seasoned educational and nonprofit leader with a career dedicated to fostering innovative leadership that empowers organizations, communities, and individuals to achieve lifelong success. Through his work, he has consistently championed initiatives that help people thrive in every aspect of their lives. Scott currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Empathy HQ, a family-focused nonprofit in Tarrant County dedicated to building resilience through accessible, affordable mental health services. Empathy HQ supports individuals, couples, and families of all ages, empowering them to lead healthy, authentic lives. Before joining Empathy, Scott led several organizations in both nonprofit and educational sectors.

He served as the Chief Operating Officer at the Community Enrichment Center, a nonprofit organization in North Richland Hills, where he worked to move families and individuals out of crisis and into long-term stability. Additionally, Scott held the role of Executive Director for Community Education and Engagement at Tarrant County College Northeast, where he developed new programs to support seniors and differently abled students in navigating opportunities in higher education. Earlier in his career, Scott served as the Senior Associate for Project Development at the Lab for Economic Opportunity (LEO) at the University of Notre Dame. In this role, he contributed to the creation of innovative and scalable initiatives designed to reduce poverty across the U.S.

Before relocating to Indiana, Scott was the Director of the Hope Center and Director of Transportation at Catholic Charities Fort Worth, where he oversaw the second-largest ground transportation provider in Tarrant County, delivering 80,000 trips annually to those in need. Scott’s passion for service began with a 30-year career in education. He started as a science teacher, special education science teacher, coach, and athletic coordinator, later advancing to elementary and secondary school principal. Throughout his educational career, he was committed to creating opportunities for success for all students, regardless of their abilities or challenges. Scott holds a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Texas at Arlington and a master’s in educational administration degree from the University of North Texas. He and his wife, Maureen, live in Decatur, Texas, where they are actively involved in their church and community. They have two sons pursuing careers in Ag Education and Ag Business.
